I own a 10 year old specialized home medical supply business (Durable Medical Equipment). I am the point in the business where I need to consider a capital investment and/or partner to grow the business to the next level. We are focused in an excellent niche market of lower extremity circulation disorders, where the sales are very good, and can even be better with time and effort. We are like a local medical supply store that sells wheelchairs, crutches, etc, except we don`t sell those items. We focus on one or 2 very profitable areas.
Profit margins are excellent. Our main product lines have two tires of profitability. One item that cost around $375 sells for $1100-$1500. The other costs around $900 and sells for $2300 to over $5000! Sounds crazy? But that is cost profit structure with some Medicare reimbursed items.
I have alot of ideas including potentially franchising, but can`t go it alone. This is a home medical equipment. This is a truly recession proof business with mostly 3rd party payors such as Aetna, Blue Cross, Medicare, etc.
